All Quiet on the Fort Worth Front

As the first weekend of free agency came to a close, the Cowboys come away with no signings.  This was expected from the team this year.  Jerry Jones has constantly reiterated that the Cowboys would not be players in free agency.

With the 27th Pick in the Fanball.com NFL Mock Draft …

The Cowboys are a team that currently face no glaring needs heading into the 2010 draft.  I say currently because roster decisions have yet to be made on a few key players – namely Miles Austin, Ken Hamlin, Flozell Adams and Marion Barber.  There are whispers around the league connecting Miles Austin to a possible reunion with The Big Tuna down in Miami.  Fellow Cowboys fans worry not, for this will not happen.  Austin will receive the highest tender from the Cowboys and they will undoubtibly match any offer on the table.

As the offseason has taken hold, I will begin discussing the draft and free agency.  However, it is prudent to discuss what areas of the team need to be upgraded.  Today I will start with the offense.

Emmitt Last of the Triplets Headed to the HOF

In the 1990’s the Dallas Cowboys were a tour deforce.  Many consider them to be the team of the decade.  They won three Superbowls in a four year span, and had a number of HOF caliber players on their roster.

Deon Anderson Arrested – Weapons Confiscated

The Cowboys starting fullback, Deon Anderson, was arrested on Tuesday for a confrontation with a restaurant employee.  During the arrest the police officers found guns in Anderson’s possession.  It was early Tuesday morning, which leads you to believe alcohol played a role in the confrontation.

News Surrounding The Offseason in BIG D

- Cowboys Blogger, Tim MacMahon, thinks the Cowboys are better off financially and on the field if they cut Marion Barber.  I would explore the market first to see if a third or fourth round pick becomes available.

Early Offseason Questions

Now that the Cowboys season is over preparation for next season has already begun.  We knew that Jerry Jones would pick up the option on Wade Phillips.  What we didn’t know was that he would extend Phillips two more years?  Did he deserve it?  Probably.  However, I might be nitpicking, but I would have just tacked on one more year plus the option so he was not heading into the season as a lame duck.

Romo, Cowboys Sacked by Vikings

Momentum was on the Cowboys side heading into Sunday’s matchup versus the Vikings.  Even as underdogs on the road for many they were the favorites.  Brett Favre and the Vikings defense put an end to that notion real quick.  Tony Romo had zero time whenever he dropped back to pass.  He was hurried on every snap.  The Vikings defense – namely Ray Edwards – came out with an unmatched ferocity.

Cowboys Hold Advantage at QB

In Brett Favre’s first year with the Vikings, he has put up awe-inspiring numbers.  At the youthful age of 40 his interception total was the lowest in his career.  Amazingly, he threw only 7 INT’s when his previous season low was 13!  It is not like the Vikings did not throw the ball.  Favre threw for 4,202 yards – the third most in his career.
